** Some firearms will be available to try out to find what fits and works best for new shooters.
**Ammunition will be provided for new shooters additional shooters will need to follow the SMGC IDR Ammunition Restrictions.
    **Non-members $15, members $10.
These range fees help to offset the cost of maintaining the range, target holders and targets.

More information on the Ladies Shoot- All events start with a safety meeting and then the ladies are joined by their personal instructors, to learn the proper method of the safe handling and use of firearms. After the initial introduction to the shooting sports, the ladies are given a choice to try different styles of firearms, to find the type that fits their needs best. The skills learned will enable you to actively participate in all the shooting activities that SMGC offers. We encourage all our ladies to return often, to build their skills. During the season we endeavor to hold diverse events to provide a chance for our ladies to understand all the different types of firearms and events available in the shooting sports.
Firearms are provided by our volunteer Range Safety Officers, and the ammunition is supplied, but you may elect to bring your own firearm and ammunition. A portion of the ammunition used is provided by the NRA Foundation/Friends of the NRA via a grant to the Women's Division of SMGC

A Girl & A Gun events are fun, social gatherings where you get firearms training and encouragement, ask questions in a safe and nonjudgmental environment, improve your marksmanship, and make new friends. All AG & AG events are supervised by Certified Firearms Instructors. All Chapter Facilitators are women who can “speak girl” and provide techniques and tips for female shooters. Our goal is to empower, educate, and have fun at the range. AG & AG events have been successful steppingstones for thousands of women since 2011. Please know that we cannot give a formal training class in a casual environment at Girl’s Night Out and that is not our intent; if you are a new shooter, we strongly encourage that you contact Cass Crago. AG & AG is honored to be a resource for you to help find the right instructor and/or classes.

GNO is Girls Night Out, a chance to hang with our shooting sisters for supervised practice.

At 6:00pm sharp we start the safety brief, which is mandatory for all shooters and observers (so please try to be a couple minutes early if at all possible) and have range time from after the safety brief until 8pm.

This is an A Girl & A Gun event held at Southern Michigan Gun Club’s outdoor Range.

The fee for participation is $20 for any participants. If you are a member of AG&AG or Southern Michigan Gun Club you can deduct $5 from the price ($15 event fee). If you are a member of both, you can deduct $10 ($10 event fee).

This, like always, is a chance to shoot in a friendly environment and push your skills a bit as there is a bit of instruction provided to help make you a better shooter no matter your level! We often times will talk about the Quarterly match or the Pistol Marksmanship Program and give you an opportunity to learn more about competition, in a low-key friendly environment (do NOT be intimidated).

For this event and all future GNO’s I recommend that you bring 150 rounds of ammunition if possible. You will go through ammunition quickly and you will be sad when it runs out. Pistol caliber .22-.45 is acceptable as long as the velocity is under 1000fps and no FMJ for the Indoor Range. Outdoor range no restrictions are in place.

Contact Cass Crago at 269-297-0071 or cassynewt@gmail.com

A few more specifics: You will need to be keyed in if you are not a member of Southern Michigan. This means that the RSVP process is super important so that we know who we need to let into the club. This is not as big of a hurdle as it seems, we just need to make sure you don’t get left outside the gate :)

    What do I bring?
SMGC is a great club, but we need to make sure we are keeping ourselves and others as safe as possible. Eye protection, ear protection, and a ball cap are required. In addition, your firearm and around 150 rds of ammunition (or whatever you can spare right now).

If you are new to shooting we recommend that you contact Cass Crago at 269-297-0071 or cassynewt@gmail.com

I am super excited about this event and I hope you will be too!!!!

It is commonly accepted that the shotgun represents one of the most powerful defensive tools available. This is our first level course in helping you build the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to employ it.

The focus of this 8-hour course is to assist students in developing the proficiency necessary to operate the shotgun in a home based, defensive context. Topics covered will include:

    • Shotgun selection and set up
    • Shotgun parts, types, and nomenclature
    • Ammunition types and selection
    • Safe loading/unloading methods
    • Ready positions and target engagement
    • Recoil mitigation (Push/pull method)
    • Defensive buckshot selection and patterning

Segments of the course will be sent in video format to, and viewed by, all participants prior to class day. This allows each student to ensure their chosen shotgun will be properly set up upon arrival, allows students to receive (and keep) the classroom content as a resource to revisit if needed , and allows us to enjoy maximized time on the range to build skills. You will have adequate time to run any questions or concerns by Jonathan prior to class day.

Please know that we cannot give a formal training class in a casual environment at Breakfast & Bullets and that is not our intent; if you are a new shooter, we strongly encourage that you contact Cass Crago. AG & AG is honored to be a resource for you to help find the right instructor and/or classes.

Grab your favorite portable breakfast and head out to the range around 9:00 am. Between 9 and 10 we hang out, talk, laugh and have a blast just creating a shooting community.

At 10:00 sharp we start the safety brief for the shooting portion and have range time from 10 to noon.

This event is held at Southern Michigan Gun Club’s outdoor location and using their Action Pit to hold this event. The fee for participation is $10 for any SMGC member participants, $20 for any non-members.

This, like always, is a chance to shoot steel plates in a semi-competitive environment. What I mean by semi-competitive is that you can race someone else, or you can do your own thing

For this event we recommend that you bring 150 rounds of ammunition if possible. You will go through ammunition quickly and you will be sad when it runs out. Pistol caliber .22-.45 is acceptable.

A few more specifics: You will need to be keyed in if you are not a member of Southern Michigan. This means that the RSVP process is super important so that we know who we need to let into the club. This is not as big of a hurdle as it seems, we just need to make sure you don’t get left outside the gate :) Please RSVP to Cass at cassynewt@gmail.com or 269-297-0071

    What do I bring?
SMGC is a great club, but we need to make sure we are keeping ourselves and others as safe as possible. Eye protection, ear protection, and a ball cap are required. In addition, your firearm and around 150 rds of ammunition (or whatever you can spare right now).

If you are new to shooting we recommend that you contact Cass at cassynewt@gmail.com or 269-297-0071

I am super excited about this event and I hope you will be too!!!!

The Action Pit is reserved to setup the stages in all 3 bays for tomorrows Action Match.  More hands make for light work.  If time (and energy) allows, we will shoot through the stages for test/evaluation purposes.  If you are new to SMGC, Action shooting, or the Action Pit, this is a great way to get a basic understanding of what a match is like.  In order to be eligible to participate in Action events, you must have proven competency in drawing from the holster and shooting on the move.  Gear requirements are in place.  Questions?  Email tim@ssinspect.com

Open practice is a fantastic time for members that have not introduced themselves to "all things Pit".  We will have static shooting at steel plates/targets and also usually setup an action stage (similar to what you might see at an IDPA match).  When you enter the Action Pit, you must have eye protection and a brimmed hat on at all times as we are in a shot fall area.  There is a comprehensive Action Pit SOP available to download under the Resources tab at the SMGC website.  In order to draw from the holster and shoot on the move, you must first show that you can do this safely and competently.  Questions?  Email tim@ssinspect.com.  Come out and see what you've been missing in life :)
